The Way of Salvation

The big question everyone wants to know is will they go to Heaven when they die? But most people feel that you cannot know for certain. The Bible is clear on whether anyone can know. In 1 John 5:13 we are told we can know. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

How can you know for sure without a shadow of a doubt that you will go to Heaven when you die?

1.   Recognize first, the fact that you are lost.

No one will make an effort to escape danger until they recognize the fact that they are in danger. God’s Word shows the danger of being lost.

  • Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon the earth, that doeth good and sinneth not,”
  • Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

2.  When should you be saved?

You should know that you have no guarantee that you will live beyond today. Any hesitation in receiving salvation will end in catastrophic consequences.

  • II Corinthians 6:2 ...behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

3.   So, What causes someone to be lost?

Many people do not realize the eternal peril that awaits those that are lost. The Bible is clear that the payment (wages) of sin is death. The Bible also describes death as eternal separation from God in hell.

  • John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
  • Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death…
  • John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

4. Recognize that Jesus died as your substitute.

The very same verse that demands eternal death as payment for your sin also declares that eternal life in heaven is offered as a gift. Jesus died for sinners so they could be offered and receive eternal life.

  • Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus), that whosever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
  • II Corinthians 5:21 For He hath made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

5. Repent toward God, with genuine sorrow for your sin.

Repentance is a change of the heart and mind about sin and the damage that it has caused. Repentance is necessary for salvation.

  • Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

6.  Ask God to save you, to forgive your sin for Jesus’              sake, and trust (believe) wholeheartedly that He will        save you.

Salvation is as simple as ABC.

Admit

Believe

Confess

Admit that you are sinner and that you are in desperate need of being saved from your sin.
Believe with all of your heart that Jesus loves you, lived for you, died and rose from the grave for you to save you from your sin and to give you eternal life in Heaven.
Confess your sin. Repent from your sin. Ask Jesus to forgive you and to come into your heart to save you.

Today, will you ask Jesus to save you?

What is holding you back?

The answer? Nothing is holding you back. Jesus loved you enough to die in your place for your sins. That means He is waiting patiently for you to receive His gift of eternal life. The following verse spells it out so clearly...

Romans 10:8-13  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;  (9)  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  (10)  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation...  (13)  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
